Custom maritime computer solution for a leading Norwegian offshore company
Hectronic developed a custom embedded computer platform for a large Norwegian maritime and offshore operator with global operations.
The project involved designing a rugged computer based on Hectronic’s Apollo Lake CPU architecture, tailored for demanding maritime environments and long product lifecycles. The system is intended for use across a range of onboard applications where reliability, environmental resistance and long-term availability are critical.
The platform was prepared for certification according to the IACS E10 Rev.7 standard, ensuring compliance with modern maritime requirements for vibration, temperature, EMC and operational safety.
This project demonstrates Hectronic’s capability to deliver customised embedded computer systems for mission-critical maritime and industrial applications.
– Over the years, we have gathered a lot of experience working closely with some of the leading Norwegian oil- and gas companies. We are actively working on more environmentally friendly ideas and can see the whole industry is looking for more sustainable solutions. We are very optimistic with this new project and it is a great example of a new innovative system. The computer will be co-developed by Hectronic and the customer. Testing and approvals will take place during next year, and the first deliveries will be in the first quarter of 2022-, says Knut Strandenæs Regional Sales Manager in Norway.
The computer will have a wide range of field applications and is a combined I/O and application controller. It will be easy to replace the old systems with the system and the computer will also be easy to mount. Right now, the project is in the starting pits, but will take of as soon as the new year has come.
